The Bulang

Because of their historical isolation from mainstream Chinese culture, the Bulang have maintained a strong daily use of their own language within their homes and throughout their villages. This language barrier has hindered the efforts of bringing the truth to the Bulang. In the past, efforts to bring the gospel to the Bulang have all been made in the national language, Chinese. Most Bulang have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the few who have weren’t given the opportunity to hear in the language of their heart.

Pray that the language barrier between the Bulang and the gospel would be removed, that the Bulang will one day repeat the words of those present for the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost: “we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God” (Acts 2:11).

While outsiders may struggle to learn a new language and culture, the Bulang themselves have no language barrier when it comes to sharing the gospel with other Bulang. Paul’s prayer for Philemon was “I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ” (verse 6, NIV). Please pray that same prayer for Bulang Christians, that they may be active in sharing their faith, preaching the gospel, and telling Bible stories in the Bulang language to those who do not yet know.
