Electricity
“ I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men I hate; they will not cling to me.” Psalm 101:3
An isolated Zhuang village in a beautiful area is being developed as a tourist attraction. This year electricity was finally brought to the village. Very soon there after, most homes purchased TVs and satellite dishes. A group of people recently visited this village. Within 5 minutes of entering one local person's house the TV program being watched by a group of children under 5 years old contained a rape and a murder. Is this what we mean by “progress” and “development”?
In a previous visit visitors and local hosts sat under a gas powered light (run by gas from the pit latrine) talking and singing together. Tourism has brought a lot of changes to this village. Pray that the people of this village would very quickly learn to discern good from evil and actively choose the good.
Praise:
- That remote villages in China are becoming more accessible. Pray that the gospel would reach these areas.
- For rain that did come to many Zhuang areas so that they could grow rice.
- For two young believers people that have a desire to grow and to share with others!
Pray:
- That modern media would be controlled in the homes of Zhuang people. Pray for movies and TV programs that have good content. Pray that people would have the strength to reject violent and sexual programming.
- Pray for the health of a friend’s mother who has been ill for several months. Pray for spiritual protection as both her and her husband are considering baptism.
- Pray for a Zhuang person teaching in a remote area who has heard a lot about the gospel. He recently sustained minor head injuries in a motorcycle accident. Pray that he would realize the importance of knowing God and living for Him.
October - Month of Prayer for the Zhuang
October 1st will begin a month long prayer emphasis for the over 17 million unreached Zhuang of Southern China.
They are the largest people group in the world without a Bible in their own language. Each month on the first is a time of prayer and fasting on behalf of Zhuang, but in the month of October each year there is a special emphasis.
There is a full color prayer guide, "31 Days for the Zhuang" available in several languages. The price is US $1 per book for one to fifty copies, after 50 copies it is sixty cents a copy and the postage charge to mail them.
