"I am a true Tai Dam. I was born and raised in the culture and the traditions of the Tai Dam people. I followed my family in worshipping spirits and believed they were real. Like all Tai Dam, I believed I was protected by the spirits of my ancestors. That was, until the day I got sick!"

"My wife and relatives tried to find the medicine to cure me according to the ways of the spirits. We also went to different doctors and hospitals, but still I did not get better. I was losing blood. It was coming out of my mouth and my nose constantly, and doctors did not know what was the cause."

"Then came the day I lost all hope. The doctors talked with my wife and grown children and had nothing to offer them. What they were offering was at most a 20 percent chance of a risky operation being successful. It was decided to proceed with the operation, but the doctor advised that my affairs be put in order and funeral arrangements made."

"I had heard about Jesus from the few Christians in my village. The whole time I was sick, they prayed for me. They boldly came and wanted to pray with me as well, and on the day of the operation, they were there. I will never forget the words of one Christian. 'Don't forget that the Almighty God can help you.' Though I did not understand, I knew something in me was strengthened. I could feel something different in me."

"When I came out of the operation and was on the stretcher, the first thing I thought of was God. He had helped me come through this. My recovery was happening so fast, that even the doctors were calling it a 'miracle'. They had never seen anything like it."

"My wife began to call family and friends and they assumed the worse, that is, I had died. Instead, she told them that I was gaining weight and strength. Within 5 days, I was released from the hospital, the very place that had become like a second home to me!"

"The first thing my wife and I wanted to do was find out how to become Christians, so that we could worship the God who had saved my life. What is more amazing is that God had also made a way to save me from all my sin. My wife and I asked Jesus into our hearts and we know that being saved from physical death is good, but being saved from spiritual death is the best! I now have been able to personally baptize one of my sons and his wife. Praise the Lord."

• For the many who are coming to hear Uncle P's testimony, and that through it, more will open their hearts to the God who loves us.

• For more miracles among the Tai Dam, that they will be drawn to the Almighty God.
