1 Peter 5:8 - "Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping."
Fai is a 12 year old Taidam Christian, who lives in a pretty large village. She and her Taidam friends attend the local school where Buddhism is practiced. Most of her Thai neighbors also follow the ways of the Buddha. This means they go to the temple to make merit, they do good things to develop good karma, and they believe in reincarnation. Fai is an energetic, outgoing leader among her peers, and this past year in sixth grade was voted student body president.
With this "title", even at twelve years of age, comes religious responsibilities. It was not long into the new school year that she was faced with representing her school in paying respect to the local Buddhist monk and the Buddha images. Fai refused because she was a Christian and did not do these things. When pressure was put on her because of her position, she graciously offered to step down. She stood firm under the pressure from students and teachers, and they agreed to find another student to represent their school.
If only we had to stand up once!! But alas, Fai was amazed at the number of times they came and tried to pressure her throughout the year. At every Buddhist holiday, the teachers tried to persuade Fai to fulfill her obligations. She refused each time, and back in the safety of her own home she was able to talk to her parents. "Why don't they let up, why do they keep trying to wear me down? Why didn't they listen the first time!"
This became another opportunity for her family to remind her of Satan's relentless pressure on us as children of God. He does not take "no" for an answer. He comes again and again to try to keep us from our God and Father. Often, he is not so subtle and is always trying to tempt us to follow him.
Please Pray:
1. That the Taidam Christians will be strong against the relentless attacks of the enemy.
2. That they will not fear the schemes of the Devil, but will know they will come to pass.
3. Pray the they will know that God reigns and has defeated Satan.
