May 12th, 2006 - The Summer Watering Hole
Tai Dam Quick Facts:
-Population of 1 Million
-Religion of animism and ancestor worship
-Settled agriculturists who cultivate wet rice
-Less than 0.1% are Christian
The school year in Laos begins in September and goes through May. This school timing has been one of the few remaining elements of the French influence from years past.
Once school ends, most kids get excited about visiting the local water hole more frequently, spending extended times with friends, and (depending on the finances in the family) visiting some family members that live further away.
For 5 young Tai Dam Christians, the big “event” of their summer holidays will be going on a prayer walk through some new Tai Dam areas, visiting Christians for the purpose of encouraging and assisting them, and looking at some occupation options for them.
Please pray for these 5 Tai Dam Christians in the following areas:
1. For safety as they travel in Laos.
2. That God would use their prayers to break through spiritual barriers.
3. That God would change their lives as they spend time with Him and hear His voice.
4. That they would have Words of God to encourage the believers that they meet with.
