Tai Dam New Year
Chinese New Year or Vietnamese 'Tet' is also the Tai Dam New Year.  What a festive time it is, but with that, also a very sad time.  The people are celebrating their harvest and a good past year by having friends and family over.  This goes on for several days and the people travel from one house to another and from one village to another.  However, much of the celebration involves ceremonies to the ancestral spirits, making food offerings, prayers, and burning incense.  It is also a time of great alcohol consumption, making this celebration a very dangerous time.  Drunk for many continuous days is the norm!

-Please pray that people would seek for a more meaningful existence.  So            many are caught in a vicious cycle and see no way of getting out, even though            they make not like it.  To not participate in the alcohol consumption is almost            like denying your Tai Dam roots.  You are pressured and pressured until you            give in or leave!!

-Please pray for God's mercy this year. May we see a breakthrough into the Tai            Dam society with the faith in the Savior.

Feb. 11, the Taidam community in Iowa, is having a Lunar New Year Celebration. This is an annual event which draws several hundreds, if not a thousand, of Taidam people from all over the United States. An effort will be made to pass out as many DVDs of the Jesus Film as possible.

-Please pray for those participating in this outreach effort and for God to use the            Jesus Film for His glory.

Radio Work
As many of you may know, radio is being used by God to reach many of the peoples in SE Asia with the truths of Scripture.  Even though the government have done all they can to stop the broadcasts, the broadcasts continue to go forth and people continue to hear the Truth of Christ. The TD radio program is now airing two times per week, due to the lack of new programming. The existing programs have to be repeated.
