"A lot of refugees are coming over every day now. It's probably the hardest time for them in many years.

 

One refugee I talked to, with a 3 month old child, said that they had to flee from the bullets. They also had to walk for 17 hours without a stop, and most of it in the night," reports one co worker.

   

Several significant events have happened recently that demand our prayers as the situation in Burma becomes increasing stressful for the Shan.

• The arrest of several Shan political leaders earlier in the year.
• There is a move by the Burmese military (SPDC) to disarm the ethnic militia's with whom they have cease fire agreements. This is creating tension.

• The Burmese backed Wa attack on the Shan army positions on the border between Thailand and Burma.

• A declaration of Independence by group of Shan exiles.
• Pray that as Shan people face distress and hardship they would call out to Jesus for salvation.
• Pray for Christians to respond to the situation in ways that are appropriate, testifying to the love of God.
• Pray for peace! More than two hundred people have lost their lives in the past three weeks.
