Jesus faced temptation in the desert following his baptism. It seems to be the common experience of Shan-Tai believers that times of testing intensify after baptism for a period.
Three people were baptized earlier this year in a village where there has never been a church. Teenager Mow has had to leave the village where she believed because her parent don't want her to be a Christian.
Tung has found it difficult to get work since he was baptized as people are not willing to hire him because he has become Christian. He also had a throat infection that caused him to lose his voice.
Tin was also baptised with Mow and Tung, last week he fell off a ladder and is now badly bruised. It seems that the devil has been using these situations to shake these new believers and to sow seeds of doubt. Pray!
- Pray that times of testing will be used to develop a deep faith in God who is totally faithful.
- 10's of thousands of Shan live in the Thai town of Chiang Mai. Pray that the Lord will raise up effective ministries to these strategically located communities leading to a movement to Christ.
- It is hot season at the moment and the schools are out. There are many camps and meetings taking place where Shan are having opportunities to hear the gospel and respond. Pray for the eternal fruit of these outreach opportunities, that the seed of the Gospel will sink deep into hearts prepared by the Holy Spirit.
