Shan-Tai children grow up in a variety of situations. Mum and dad are often missing. Perhaps they have gone to work in Thailand. Perhaps dad has left mum for another woman. Often it is the grandparents who raise children. AIDS, political oppression, abuse by step parents, missing out on school and basic health care are everyday realities for Shan kids. Kuk Kik is one such child. Her mum jumped from the 4th floor of her local hospital when she found out she had AIDS. Her dad died one year later. Kuk Kik's aunt and uncle now feel they have done their bit in looking after her and now want to send her away. For Kuk Kik God has opened the door for her to stay at a hostel run by Christians. Others are much less fortunate.
- The three little boys pictured here are growing up in the knowledge of the Lord. Pray for many others to hear of and respond to Jesus.(It's sugar cane they are munching and just look at their teeth!)
- In China, since the new year there have been 6 new Shan -Tai believers. 5 of the them have been young men in their 20's Praise God for this but there is a lot of pressure against them to fit in, and following Jesus is definitely not popular there. Pray for their growth.
