Tai Khamti are a Shan-Tai group that live in the far west of Burma, bordering India. Similar to other Tai groups they favour the valleys and riverbanks over the mountains.

 

Whilst there are many groups reaching tribal groups such as the Nagas, the Tai Khamti remain almost untouched by the Gospel. They are very hard to access from other parts of Burma and amongst the estimated population of about 100 000 there are about 35 Christians. Recently an effort has been made to encourage mission minded Christians in India to reach out to Tai Khamti. Tai Khamti are also present in Assam.

• Pray to the Lord of the harvest to raise up workers to reach Tai Khamti.
• Three small Tai Khamti churches exist, pray that they would be vibrant and growing light to the rest of the population.
• Pray that the Khamti will have access to the Bible in their heart language.
