But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God. 2 Corinthians 2:14, 17
Bible translation:
Translation of the Old Testament is in progress. Different people have done all kinds of temporary translations. To translate the Bible in a trustworthy way it is necessary to compare the translation with the original Hebrew text. That is quite a job. The translators are two Pwo Karen men. Their work is laid beside the Hebrew text and other books are used that explain translation problems. Then the translation goes to a team of Pwo Karen brothers and sisters. The translators and this team will look at the text to see if the language in all Pwo Karen areas is understood. When this is done the Bible portions need to be translated back into English. A consultant from the Bible Society will sit down with the translation team to make sure all is translated correctly.
Praise:
- The Lord for the good health of the translators, for the progressing translation of the Old Testament and for the aid of books, CD’s and other materials that give more insight in the text.
Pray:
- For the continuation of the translation of the Old Testament. Pray that nothing will hinder the progress.
- For the checking, for finding the correct words so that the translated work reflects really what the Hebrew text says.
- For the Pwo Karen Christians, that they will use their New Testament daily, that it will be read in churches and will be studied in their homes and bear fruit.
