Mountain villages:
The Pwo Karen people living in the mountains of Thailand are usually animists. They know about Buddhism because their kids go to schools where Buddhism is promoted.
The TJL area is such a location. More then 10 years ago, a deliberate effort was made by Christians to visit every village in that particular area to tell them about their Creator God. After 5 years of intensive visits, many of the Pwo Karen people were interested but didn’t make a decision because of fear for the spirits and because of pressure from relatives and villagers. A new time has now come - the first families have turned and are following Christ!
Praise:
- Thank you Lord for making things grow! Thank you Lord that your heart is yearning for the lost, for you nothing is impossible!
Pray:
- For the Pwo Karen evangelists. Pray they will have spiritual insight, dare to take steps in faith, understand the strategy of Satan so they can overcome the hindrances and let Light shine to defeat the darkness in this area.
- For the new believers, pray they will grow in their faith and that they will witness of their faith in Jesus so Christians will grow in numbers en spread out in the whole TJL area.
- For a particular Pwo Karen family who were in an accident last month. They lost their child; the wife has a broken disk. They were responsible for teaching 8 families living far off in the hills. Pray for physical and emotional healing of the wife, for Gods peace ruling over their hurting hearts, feelings and thoughts.
Pray those 8 families will stand firm in their faith. They are tested. Their old thinking tells them that the spirits have taken the little child. Pray for the young man who now will go and teach these Christians regularly. Pray he will clearly teach Gods Word so their old thinking will be renewed.
