“Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.” (Matt. 5:11) “He has sent me to proclaim relief to the captives…to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” (Luke 4:18)

 

Scriptures and the Pwo Karen:
Some 142.000 Karen and Karenni refugees from Myanmar remain in camps on the border. Hundreds of other refugees from Myanmar were resettled to third countries. In spite of all the difficulties, hardships, restrictions and limitations that Karen refugees face, many of them are eager to know more about God.

 

Praise:
Thank the Lord for Bible translators in Myanmar. One of them wrote: "God blessed our trip to the north. He allowed us to record two languages. Just before we went I recorded one of the Karen languages spoken in 49 villages in Yangon. I still want to record in Rawang this month. Pray that our electricity and computers will not fail as I do the editing."

 

Pray:

• For the Pwo Karen people in Thailand living in the L province. They are the target group of the Jesus Film evangelism team. Pray that their ministry will be effective and that many Pwo Karen people will hear and believe the Gospel.
• For the ongoing translation work of the Pwo Karen Old Testament in Thailand.
• "For most of the past decade and a half, Aung San Suu Kyi has been detained under house arrest by the Burmese authorities. When these periods of detention are viewed cumulatively, October 24, 2005, marked the completion of her 10th year of detention," Pray for freedom of speech. Pray for an unconditionally release of Aung San Suu Kyi.
• For Bible translators in Myanmar. Pray the plan for printing of Scriptures in 2005 could be finished successfully.
• For the many refugees in the camps between Thailand en Myanmar border. Pray they will be used to glorify God. Pray they will be reunited with their families.
• For the Karen people in hiding in the hills of Myanmar. Pray medical teams will reach them safely.  Pray for those medical teams that they will be used by God to help the needy and share the Gospel.
