To the pure, all things are pure, but to those
who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is
pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are
corrupted. Titus 1:15
Buddhist Pwo Karen people:
Buddhism has
influenced the Pwo Karen people in Thailand
already for many years. The average person
believes that some monks can reach nirvana. For
ordinary people this is almost impossible. By
doing good, one tries to influence the cycle of
re-birth for his own good. Making merit can be
done by presenting presents to the “wat”
(temple), by worshipping the Buddha image the
monks in the “wat”, by feeding the monks that
come past the houses for their alms, by helping
the “sangha” (the monks in the temple) or by
(temporary) entering the monkshood yourself.
Meditation and undertaking a pilgrimage also
belong to the possibilities to gain merit.
The first
major Buddhist truth is that life is
suffering. This suffering is a direct
consequence of our lusts and desires. By
eliminating those desires, one is able to
put suffering to an end. By walking along
the right path in life, one is also able to
gain victory over these desires. This right
path of life is a system of thinking and
acting that causes the karma of a person to
improve. Karma can grow by doing good works.
It is a kind of add up equation of all the
good and bad thoughts and actions out of
this life and past lives. When you follow
the right path, you will reincarnate in a
better and purer life.
Praise:
- Thank
the Lord for the testimonies of Thai
Christians that are renewed in their
thinking.
- The
Lord for a Pwo Karen evangelist who is
working among his un-reached people.
Pray:
- That
Thai Christians will have the same
amount of influence on the Pwo Karen as
the Thai Buddhists.
- For the
advance of the evangelization work among
the Pwo Karen people in HT and
neighboring area.
- For a
break through in the harts of those that
have an interest in the gospel but have
not yet had the courage to believe.
