Reports of
chemical weapon attacks emerged last month,
following a month-long artillery barrage against
a border post held by Karenni soldiers at Nya
My, near the Thai town of Mae Hong Son. A
witness said it culminated with a shell that
released a cloud of pungent yellow smoke.
Last week’s
television interviews with Karenni survivors of
a recent alleged chemical weapons attack were
compelling evidence of the regime’s brutality. A
doctor examined patients who had vomited blood
and experienced blistering skin and pulmonary
problems. Kids of IDP’s (Internally Displaced
People) told stories of little brothers and
sisters ground to death in a log-weighted rice
pounder. Others told a story of people who have
been subjected to forced labor whose legs have
been blown off when they were forced to act as
human mine detectors.
Praise:
- Thank God
for many Christians in Myanmar giving
testimony of their Faithful God, worth to
serve. Even though many of them have been
subjected to “systematic persecution” they
do not give up their relationship with God!
Pray:
- For the two
orphanages for Karen and Karenni children in
the Thai-Burma borderlands.
- For the
authorities in Myanmar. Ask God to break
these impossibly hard hearts and give them
love for their fellow men. May they learn to
respect human life and to know and love
Jesus as Lord and Savior.
- For the
refugees in the jungle, many of whom lack
necessities such as food and shelter. May
God’s grace provide and His provision be the
best witness of His love.
- There is
little to no opportunity for children who
are in hiding to attend school. Many IDP
children are in hiding sites, and if the
situation continues like this, young
children will be uneducated and there will
be a larger number of people who can't speak
or read or write in Karen. It will show that
the dictators have beaten the Karen in one
way. Please pray for those kids!
