"There's almost no trees left in the province" he said, "and the logging that is happening is not for local use, but export".

Actually few local people benefit - the sale of the trees earns money for local government officials, the transport companies, and the exporters.

Teacher sighed, "There is no other source of money for the local officials, but they know it's damaging the environment - it's never been so hot in this province."
