Under the Curse
In the mid 1800’s a Phuan priest traveled to Thailand. There he studied the Black Arts and learned the power of casting curses.
When he returned to the Phuan Kingdom of Xieng Khouang, a Thai envoy followed him to report to the Phuan king that one of his subjects, this priest, now had the power to cast curses and in the opinion of the envoy, the priest was probably going to curse the king and take over the throne.
Before a coup could occur, the Phuan king sent soldiers to execute the priest. Before the soldiers were able to chop off his head, the priest cursed all future leaders of Xieng Khouang and called down a curse on the entire kingdom (now a province of Laos).
Not long after this the Thai invaded and carried off 40,000 Phuan slaves. Then Chinese bandits raided and plundered. The Vietnamese invaded. Then the French came and seized control. Not long afterward civil war erupted dividing the Kingdom into two camps, one communist, and the other royalist. The Vietnam War brought massive bombing to Xieng Khouang, obliterating the capital city and raining down thousands and thousands of bombs and mines.
With the infrastructure and economy destroyed, the region plummeted into a period of unprecedented poverty that last has lasted for 20 years. Today the Governor of Xieng Khouang suffers from kidney failure and is on dialysis.
The history of Xieng Khouang suggests the power of a curse.
But today is the day of Salvation!
Pray for the Phuan
- that they will be set free from the curse of sin and death.
- the they will reject Satan’s rule in all its forms and turn en masse to the living God and to His Christ.
