Kham Tibetan
12 Tibetan students studying chronological Bible stories in English are expressing a greater desire to understand the meaning of the texts and what relevance they have to their lives today.
- Pray especially for one student who has said he would like to believe as soon as he can get his questions answered. Ask for the right local believer to be able to assist them in learning more about having a relationship with the Creator.
"Sarah" is still struggling in her faith; however, recently she expressed a real brokenness and a need for prayer in many aspects of her life. This is a real breakthrough as she hasn't asked for prayer in a long time.
- Pray that she will see God clearly answer her prayers and that her spiritual footing would become secure again. Pray too that she will get the 'right' job as she graduates next semester - one that will be helpful to her and will also satisfy her parents.
Thank the Lord for the work of an NGO in a remote town over the last year giving many opportunities to show God's love. Recently there has been a sense that things at the official levels are not going favorably resulting in real uncertainty about being able to continue work there next year. Considering all that has been accomplished here in the past year, it is not surprising that the enemy is seeking to frustrate plans for 2008.
- Pray for God’s love and truth to advance.
- Praise God for the portions of scripture that have been translated in the past year into Kham Tibetan and for the Kham workers finishing Chinese studies and beginning Kham language study
Tai Dam
The Tai Dam radio program has struggled. In the 1980's, FEBC asked the Tai Dam Christians to come up with a program to be aired twice a week. Some individuals started the work and were later followed by a team of committed individuals.
The programs themselves are significant, but more importantly are the tapes/CDs of the programming. Those interested can listen to them when they want and as often as they want as individuals or as groups. Minority language programs have been jammed for many years by the Vietnamese government, but new technology is helping the programs be heard and the people are persevering in listening to the radio programs.
- Pray – preparing Tai Dam radio programs is tiring; it is difficult to come up with new ideas and is discouraging when no letters from listeners are received. "Does anyone really listen? Is it worth the time and energy and expense?"
- Pray God would raise up one or two Tai Dam workers in Asia to carry on this work - people who are called of God, determined to keep on amid difficulties, and creative in writing new programs. God would make a way for more Tai Dam to hear the programs.
Jan 18, 2007, the Teacher was taken by the police in Laos. Is he dead or alive? We don't know the answers to the questions. His wife and children are moving ahead but always with sadness at the disappearance of their husband and father. The church work continues to move ahead in many places despite the persecution! Leaders are being equipped and church members are becoming bolder.
- Pray for the Teacher’s family and for the many Tai Dam and Lao who know him well. Pray that God will give them victory over fear and discouragement. Pray that God will use this for furtherance of His kingdom.
