“Can materials and teaching methods be brought in from the outside and applied to the local people group? Who can say what specific teachings this culture most needs? The basic need is for people on the ground, culturally sensitive folks who are willing to dig into the local way of thinking and way of life. It does not matter much if they are local people or foreigners. Teaching needs to take into consideration the needs of the listeners. How do we know what the needs are? Scripture has the ultimate authority but how do we or they know where to look and how to apply that to our lives in the local culture?” - Mekong worker Bamar
Just today fuel prices went up again; petrol and diesel prices doubled, and natural gas (used in buses and vans) went up five times overnight. In the morning, many drivers didn’t have enough to fill their tanks, so crowds of people were left standing at the bus stops unable to get to work. Others who could afford it got taxis or special buses at grossly inflated prices. With most food and goods transported countrywide by road, rising fuel prices means higher costs of food and other essentials. Before Mr. BB knew the Lord he was illiterate but now he can read Bible. He has been able to get some Bible training and he can share about Jesus with others.  It is unbelievable what the Lord is doing in his life. Mr. BB recently was able to go back to his home town in Burma. While he was there he was given many opportunities to share about Jesus. Pwo Karen
There are many Pwo Karen followers of Jesus but there are still areas where there are no or only a few Christians. The biggest need among the Pwo Christians is Bible teaching. Some Pwo Karen churches accuse others of not having received the Holy Spirit. Some churches are very tolerant of people living in sin while other churches do not allow people to attend church because they have committed a sin.
