Reunion
Reunion is the yearly gathering of Mekong workers for 5 days of refreshment in spirit and body and for training and prayer. This year there are two Reunions – one this month for Mekong workers serving in Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam and one later in the year for the Mekong workers in China. This month’s Reunion involves just over 100 adults and about 70 children. Tai Yuan
“90% of the Tai Yuan live in Northern Thailand but there are pockets of Tai Yuan in Laos. I went to ‘find’ these Tai Yuan. I spent most of each day on a bus going down dirt roads, being covered with dust. Once we got to a town we had a few hours to talk with people before dark. Our job was to find out what language they spoke and see if they understood the Tai Yuan that is spoken in Northern Thailand.  I have never been in a place where I heard so many dialects of the same language.  All the dialects fall under the major language Dai. Imagine going into room with ten people and each time you talk to someone they speak differently than the last person. This is Laos. I was so relieved when we finally found a Tai Yuan.  We met a guesthouse owner who was Tai Yuan. She sounded just like someone from my village in Thailand; same accent, vocabulary, and phrases. She told me of all the other Tai Yuan that lived in the area, inside the town and out in villages.” - Mekong worker   Hmong
Hmong Christians in a province of Laos have been under duress for several weeks. Under coercion and threat of danger, 11 of 47 Christians in one village signed a document saying that they would no longer follow Christ. Similar threats to Pastor A, the church leader in the province, resulted in his martyrdom last year. Unable to compel the remaining Christians to renounce their faith, village officials called a meeting of all villagers and called for a vote to force the rest of the believers to recant or face threats to their lives. At the end of the meeting, the Christians still refused to renounce Christ.

On March 13, officials ordered deportation of ten Christian families. Two of the Christian leaders escaped on March 14 to seek help from the body of Christ. They are being hunted by Lao officials.   Ask God to use this situation to change the hearts of officials and other villagers until they know our Father’s love and peace.
