Scaffolding
Hudson Taylor’s passionate desire was that national believers would be given the leadership of their own churches and have control over their own affairs. Is it ours? One pattern of how we should be planning is Model-Assist-Watch-Leave.
From the beginning, we are planning to go. Whatever we do, we are never planning that this would be “our ministry,” but that it would belong to the local people and local leaders. Are we doing this? Are we planning and acting like scaffolding? This calls us to be mentors, not pastors and servants, not masters.
Ian Prescott Mien (Yao)
Why wouldn't Job 42 typeset in the way it was formatted? Finally, after many futile attempts we finally found the reason - one little { instead of a [ meant the last 5 chapters of Job would not typeset properly! The Mien Bible translation project is so close to being finished – and yet, the 2 main translators write, “We have been really struggling to keep going over these last few weeks. We don't intend to give up, but some days, when the checking and correcting seems never ending, we wonder how much longer it can possibly take.” Shan - Tai
“We pulled back in some of what we were doing when we became aware of someone investigating us. After reflecting, researching and praying we think we should keep moving ahead trusting God to protect us. Proverbs 28:1 says that “the righteous are bold as a lion” and we don’t want to be so cautious that they dynamism of a faith that turns the world upside down is lost.”
