Is
uniformity an ideal?
“Life in the village is based on cooperation and
uniformity”, she said, “and it is would be impossible to
live there with a belief system different from everyone
else”. Mr. and Mrs. W’s, whose faith in Jesus has been
so encouraging, seemed to wither under this parental
barrage.
Pray for the over 150 Mekong workers reaching out to
many of the unreached people groups in the Mekong River
countries. Only Jesus can give wisdom and strength and
courage. May Thy Kingdom come!
Dong
The written translation of Luke in the Dong language is
now finished! The primary purpose of that work is to
produce the Jesus Film, which is an adaptation of the
book of Luke. However, the government has increased
their watch on the translation team in an effort to stop
the work.
- Pray with those working on this script. This final
lap of their race promises to be the most demanding.
May they fix their eyes on Jesus.
Audio is an important medium, for Dong have no written
script in use, and written scriptures cannot be easily
used. The audio Bible story project is continuing to
progress. Several stories have made it through the
entire checking and editing process and are ready for
use, but most of the recordings still have not been
consultant checked for accuracy.
- Pray that the mother tongue helpers, the Bible
storying coaches, and the consultant (who all live
in different locations and have other
responsibilities) will be able to coordinate a week
or two of time in the near future to continue
checking the "first draft" stories.
- Pray many Dong will soon hear the truth in a way
that they can understand and respond to.
Bamar
"Susie" stood at the window of her 5th floor apartment
in despair. She owed a huge amount of money which she
could never pay back. If she jumped, and killed herself,
the problem would go away. But if she jumped and was
badly hurt, it would be so much worse. There seemed no
way out. At that moment there was a knock on the door.
She went to open it, and there were some young men
selling Christian videos. The normal price was 2000 kyat
- but she only had 500 - and when they agreed to that
she burst into tears. They told her about Jesus, and she
gave her life to Him, and felt that 'a bright light came
into her head'. She knew she had come from the Kingdom
of Darkness into the Kingdom of Light. Susie now sells
shoes, telling others of Jesus along the way. And all
her debts are now gone!
- Praise for every child of God that is living and
speaking the truth and life of Jesus to the Bamar
people in Myanmar.
- In
a recent survey, over 90% of people in one community
had significant debt. Pray for people working in
debt relief and income generating projects
- Pray for those in deep despair, to experience, like
Susie, the 'bright light' and pray God’s children
will be “knocking at the door” to tell of them of
the hope in Jesus.
