House Church
It’s been thrilling to watch Mr. & Mrs. Happy grow. While Mr. & Mrs. Happy were open to the Lord, it was extremely difficult to read the Bible with them or pray. They live a long way away and they didn’t like the Christian worker traveling out to see them alone at night. Then at the weekends they are busy running their shop. It seemed that every time the Christian worker went to visit there was some man sitting in the shop with questionable intent waiting to distract or discourage the Christian worker. Things got easier once the Christian worker prayed specifically for no more visitors to waste the little visiting time available.

Then in early December, God did something in Mrs. Happy’s heart. She was very low and upset about something so the Christian worker shared a bit from the Bible with her in her shop between customers. Mrs. Happy then invited the worker to go to look at the house that she is building. There were builders and her son there (who is very opposed to the Lord). Mrs. Happy showed all around the house and then proceeded to take the worker into the bathroom and lock the door. She put a mat on the floor and said, ‘Let’s pray!’ A prayer meeting in a bathroom! It was so encouraging to see her taking the initiative for the first time to create an opportunity to talk about the Lord and pray together.

A few weeks later she phoned asking to go to church. She said that two of her sisters had become believers in recent months and through them she had been challenged to make a decision between Buddhism or following Jesus. She decided to go Jesus’ way. After talking through the implications of going to the official church, she decided that she wanted help to learn how to worship in her own home. This would open the way for her invalid husband and daughter who are interested to participate. It may also hold off opposition at work (a government post) for a bit. It was wonderful to see Mrs. Happy, her daughter and her sisters celebrating their first Christmas.
