Wa Quick Facts:
-The Majority of Wa live in Myanmar
- Famous for their past involvment in  headhunting and opium trade
-In the early 20th century Christianity  spread among the Wa living on the  Myanmar-Yunnan border area

At the end of last year we were diligently preparing computer training classes for the six grade Wa students.  This year in January we began a four week computer class, and after school began in March, every other week we continued to have half day of computer training.  There were 19 students in this group who learned data inputting, page composition, making tables and graphic arrangement, printing, etc.  They also designed their own individually styled graduation commemoration book; when they presented it at the graduation ceremony, lots of their younger classmates admired them.
July 5th was the second graduation ceremony.  Among the 19 graduating students, five applied for middle school, and three passed the entrance exam.  This is our school’s first time to participate in Southern Wa district interscholastic activities.  After this, we hope that each year there will be students to take the exam, and moreover in knowledge, character, life-style, language, behavior, and in every aspect has good appearance so as to glorify God’s name. This year the pigs and chicken on the mountain that we live on have had various diseases which has resulted in the  villagers suffering tremendous loss. But the brothers and sisters in the Lord can still say: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.  This gave us comfort and encouragement.

Recently, due to irrigation canals that have been dug, there have been many new paddy fields opened, and each household has been appointed some of these paddy fields.  The paddies each year is sown and harvested twice, add to this, the original rice grown on dry land, corn and soybean. This keeps the farmers very busy.  There is no break to allow for the body and mind to rest.  Probably because of the excessive exhaustion, many adults and children have been ill. The serious ones are taken to the city to be treated and many have spent a lot of money.
