Prayer Focus: Tibetan monks
In a recent conversation one Tibetan monk was skeptical about the “faith” of Christians and claimed that the Christians believe in Jesus because of material benefits and a more comfortable lifestyle. He was further skeptical when confronted with the knowledge that the vast majority of people in this world (particularly the non-western world) who place their faith in Jesus suffer considerably more than they did before they believed. His skepticism faded when asked what his family, friends, and fellow monks would think of him if he believed: he realized at once the cost would be considerable. However, he claimed that it would not be a great cost if Jesus is as wonderful as the Christians say!
- Pray for many searching monks like this man – that God would open their hearts to receive the Gospel message (Acts 16:14).
- Pray the blatant depravity of their communities would repulse them and create a hunger to search for the Righteous One (Matt. 5:5).
- Pray these influential members of society would be sobered by the weight of their responsibility and come to realize they have no answers – no relevant truth – to address the ache in every human heart that is separated from the living God.
- Pray for a few former monks that have renounced their former life of demon worship and pledged allegiance to the Prince of Life! Pray their way would be the way of the righteous:
“He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.”- Psalm 1:3
