Last weekend, some of the Bible students went on an outreach to the village of T. T village is a 3 hours car drive and 3 hours of walking. During the first hour of driving, we noticed something was not right with the cart - he rear differential  was damaged. However the students absolutely wanted to keep going. We all prayed that the car would still run in spite of the damage. We continued with a banging noise while going upwards and drove downwards in neutral. The brakes were hot and there was a smell of burning. We arrived at the end of the road and continued by foot. On the way home the differential broke just before a Karen village. We were able to borrow some tools and we could remove the driveshaft of the rear differential just before night.  With front wheel drive only and Karen as load on the hood of the car and with a lot of prayer we drove home at walking speed. On the way, the cable of the alternator broke. We noticed it just in time before the battery was flat. It took 4 hours for the last lap instead of 2 but we arrived!

The 5 Christian families living in T village were encouraged. The church is very young and is led by a 21 year old Karen lad. The church had been completely destroyed by bad weather and strong winds. The people want to build the church again in the lower part of the village.

Thinking, not just memorizing
How were Moses, Jeremiah, Gideon, Jonas and Peter called by God? How did they react to the call? How did God deal with their fears and questions? What can we learn from it? What does it mean for our life? The young Karen tried to answer these questions one evening. Many Karen need help to think through information rather than just memorizing it. Asian people in general, are not used to finding out something by themselves. In the schools everything is being presented, one has to learn by heart, they hardly have to figure something out on their own.

Preparing for the children’s camp
Children's Camp is planned for the April school holiday. It will take place in a Karen village. The Karen want to have it there as they think that sleeping and cooking will be easier there. We want to discover the lives of Paul and Peter, who were among the first Christians.
