God’s Spirit is at work
During his talk Mr. I usually has everyone read the Scripture verses they are studying out aloud together. It focuses attention and gives practice in reading. At M he was surprised to notice TT reading along with everyone else. TT is the young mother of 2 boys. She was one of those baptised 1½ years ago. She was only barely literate so never used to read out aloud with everyone else. After the service she said, ‘I now read the Bible most nights. I find it such a comfort and help.’ Wow! TT is reading the Scriptures regularly. That’s God!’
Bible translation
Proof-reading has been completed as far as John. GF and Miss A are going over queries arising from the proof-reading and are now half way through Jeremiah. The glossary is also being revised then must be alphabetised and manually formatted for each of the four scripts. GF is a willing worker as they go over comments and make any necessary changes - pressing hard with Miss A to complete the project. Our goal is for the Mien Bible to be ready for printing in all 4 scripts by July 07.
Mien Couple Retreat
80 Mien couples attended the Couples’ Retreat at the end of December – a number of them not even Christians! One couple, the wife was a Christian but the husband was not, even though he thought himself to be a Christian and occasionally attended services. At the retreat Mr H became a true Christian. His besetting sin was drink. He has vastly cut down but is still not completely free of it. It was a real testimony when there was a meal at his house. All the other men sat there drinking beer. Mr H sipped a fruit drink. Pray that he will allow God’s Spirit and God’s Word to change him and that a sense of God’s presence and joy will replace his former solace.
