There at the station was Mr. Pawnsee with suitcase in hand. He greeted Mr. Somsuk warmly, “Brother, it’s so good to see you. I have something to tell you.”
Pawnsee proceeded to tell Somsuk of his recent departure from group of false teachers who have been wreaking havoc among the churches in Vientiane.
“For a long time I thought the leader Mr. M was just fine. He talked about meeting in the home and having love for one another. That sounds biblical to me. But he also taught us that the big organized churches were wrong and that the leaders were living in sin. Many times Mr. M sent us to the meetings to disrupt things and challenge the believers. We were preaching love but we were acting with malice. I finally decided to leave.”
Although Pawnsee has left, many more people continue to follow Mr. M’s destructive teaching which judge others and bring division to the Body of Christ. There are other groups teaching lies in Jesus’ name too; Jehovah’s witnesses and Mormons have been actively and aggressively setting up house meetings in Laos for the past few years. Lao leaders stand up front on Sunday from the pulpit and warn people about false teachers, but they give no specific teaching from the Bible about false teachers or ministries. As a result believers are confused and often suspicious of one another.
- Pray God will burden Lao church leaders to develop and teach lessons on the basic tenets of the faith, emphasizing the deity of Christ and the finished work of the cross. Pray that leaders will take seriously the need to educate believers with specific teaching from the Bible.
- Ask that this year Mr. M and all his followers will be brought back into a right relationship with God and fellow believers. Pray they will cease judging and attacking the church and will instead be brokenhearted with true godly love for the lost souls of Laos.
- Ask for God to raise up good Bible teachers all across Laos who can articulate the truths of Scripture in a way which common people understand.
- Pray for teachings to be developed this year on finance and moral purity.
