Men Needed
Pressure from family and tribe to conform to traditional beliefs and practices is very strong. This in combination with police intimidation and threats has caused many new Christians not to persevere. Fear of persecution and pride has kept many from faith. Lack of unity and jealousy amongst Christians is also a significant obstacle to effective outreach.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, cults, as well as government communist propaganda abound. In a semi-literate society where people are not very interested in reading and the Bible is not readily available in most tribal languages, the majority of Christians have limited understanding of God’s Word so are not well able to discern true from false teaching.
There now seems to be consensus within the top levels of the Communist Party to persecute Christians. May this testing result in Christians nationwide being refined and purified rather than in yielding to the temptation to give up. Ask that all believers will fear God rather than our persecutors, that we will not be ashamed of the gospel but be willing to suffer for Christ’s sake.
Praise God that the Gospel was preached at Christmas celebrations held in various locations in the province. The number of Christians is steadily growing with believers amongst more and more ethnic groups. However, many ethnic groups remain virtually untouched.
1.Pray for men to turn to Christ. So far most Christians are young and women so have limited influence over key decision-makers (the elderly men) within the community.
2. Pray for the national church to catch the vision for praying. Ask that local believers will start praying together regularly and so model and encourage praying for their people group.
