Mrs. Gold sat on her friend’s porch eating lunch. She had come to town and wasn’t even planning on seeing this friend, but another believer had suggested they get together.
After the plates were cleared Mrs. Gold spontaneously began to talk about the history of her house church. She shared about the early days when they were afraid to meet. She recounted the trials of persecution and the fears of whether or not she and others could really lead the new church.
Finally she gave an update on where things are now. Every Sunday her house is so full, people have to sit outside. Families in 17 other villages have believed; 11 of those villages have a house church meeting in them.
As she talked it was clear that Mrs. Gold was filled with the Holy Spirit and joy. She told of how she had recently preached the word with great boldness when a local believer died. Her friend was stunned and overjoyed. What a lovely gift to receive this news of great fruit coming from the life of Mrs. Gold and those in her province!
- Thank our God and Father for His great faithfulness over the years to Mrs. Gold and the church that meets at her house.
- Pray that God will protect and nurture each of the 11 house churches meeting in outlying villages. Pray that threats by local officials will not dissuade them from standing firm in their faith.
- Ask that many more people in Mrs. Gold’s province will see God’s grace on the believers there and will also come to know Christ. Ask that this province will be a center of strong faith in Jesus for years to come.
