Searching for Beauty
“Does your wealth make you look young? What do you put on your face?” she asked one day.
“You look so young! People here don’t look young. We look elderly because we worry about money. You’re rich and people from your country are rich, you don’t have to worry about money so that is why you look young and beautiful.”
Kitchen items and plastics are what Mrs. L sells at a stall near the market. She is wealthy compared to many other Lao people.
Many Lao women work hard to earn money to buy things they believe will bring them happiness and make them beautiful. Many times throughout the day they think about having enough money and the things it will buy for them.
- Pray for Mrs. L and the desire she has to be beautiful. Pray that God would open her eyes to see that worldly beauty and money won’t satisfy the longings in her heart. Pray that she and all Lao women would come to value the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit.
- Pray the Lao people will know the joy and beauty that comes from the Lord. Only though a relationship with the Lord will they know satisfaction.
