Mr. W is a Christian. Since he formerly was a drug user he is well networked with the gang in the area. He has found the goods that were recently stolen. However, it has not been possible to return the stolen goods to the owner as those responsible are fearful that if they sell the things back to the owner, the owner will turn them over to the police.

The stolen goods were given to 2 main dealers in the area, Mr. R & Mr. S, in exchange for drugs. These men sell to and control the gang in the neighborhood. They routinely force businesses, nightclubs and restaurants in the area to take on members of their gang as employees. To refuse would provoke action to destroy their businesses.

Mr. R, Mr. S and the young men using drugs in the area are all related to people high up in the police or are sons of government ministers. Therefore, they are untouchable. Nobody dares take any action to bring about justice and those in authority are effectively upholding their destructive lifestyle. Without any restraint these people will continue to destroy society and we can expect lawlessness to increase. However, we know from Psalm 82 that it is the responsibility of the rulers and judges to protect the powerless against oppression and injustice.“God presides in the great assembly; he gives judgment among the ‘gods’: How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked?” (Psalm 82:1-2)

We believe that God is on the move. The robbery has alerted us to pray for and seek opportunities to reach out into these drug communities. God is at work sending confusion. Mr. R and Mr. S had a dispute in which Mr. S was shot and has been in hospital for weeks. Through this Mr. W has been able to witness to Mr. R.

Pray for
        -His blessing, help and protection for Christians planning to visit and build          friendships with the young men using drugs in this area. May there be such a          dramatic change in this gang that the whole village will want to learn of this God          who can transform people.

        -Mr R and Mr S to reconsider their lifestyles and seek a new beginning in Christ.

        -Mr W (and others like him who’ve come out of drugs) to lead many gangsters to          salvation – especially those who’ll be the gateway to many others following suit.          Pray for Christians to mentor them, for boldness and protection.
