K's Story
At a Bible seminar in June 2005 K gave a good testimony about how he and 2 villages have accepted Jesus Christ during January 2005. P village has 7 Christian families and N village, his village, has 23 Christian families - the total number of Christians is 194 people.

They first heard the gospel of Jesus Christ through the Khmu radio program, many became interested and then the Christians in HH village went to visit them and witnessed to them personally. They took some of their leaders to the city where there is a Khmu house church and the Christians there led them to Jesus Christ. After returning to their villages, they led all 194 people to Jesus Christ. When the authorities asked them who witnessed to them, they unanimously answered, “We heard it from the radio broadcasting in the Khmu language.”

Shortage of Leaders
There is an extreme shortage of leaders who really love God and have knowledge of the Word of God to teach and preach. One Bible school student described his term break activities with some other key leaders in Laos. They visited a village where there are 16 Christian families, but about a year ago a man from a cult came and divided them into 2 groups. 7 families left and joined with the cult and 9 families remained with the church.

A leader of the area invited two churches to help him teach at his seminar.  The people were so thrilled to see that there are Khmu teachers who are well trained and equipped to teach them. The Khmu Bible teachers started teaching at 6:00 am until noon and then again at 1:00 - 6:00 pm. The people’s hunger and thirst for God’s Word was obvious as seen by their untiring listening to the Word of God throughout 3 days and 3 nights.  But the two teachers were exhausted! The people asked the two Bible teachers to stay in their village and be their pastor, and they offered to give them land for cultivation and help them build a house. The group that had joined with the cult came and attended the 3 days of teaching as well. The Khmu people do not understand the differences between the two groups. Since the cult first came and divided the group the cult people have not been back again.

Church Growth.
In spite of the ongoing persecution the church is still growing rapidly. Many house churches are being extended and many church buildings are being built.

In February 2005 it was reported that 54 Ta-Oi in S province accepted Jesus through listening to the Khmu radio program. In June 2005, three Ta-Oi men came to attend a seminar. They said that 83 more people accepted Jesus within 5 months. They wanted to build a bamboo house church because the authorities have asked them to have a place to hold their worship service.  They said that the authorities in their area were not against them at all.  These are an animistic people who still have altars to present their sacrifices and appease the spirits.
