Each Sunday we attended local churches, starting in a tribal village where we met a Christian leader among the Ta-Oi – a 70 year old man. He is rejoicing in seeing a breakthrough in his own people’s group, the Ta-Oi, with nearly 300 believing. Only two years ago he asked us to pray for more than 50!

Mr. P is a young Khmu man working on a construction project S province. At work he met many Ta-Oi people. Every day at 8.30 Mr P listened to the Christian Khmu program. The Ta-Oi men were interested in what Mr. P was listening to everyday. So they asked him, “Would you please interpret into Lao for us what you are listening to?”  Mr. P immediately interpreted it for them from Khmu into the Lao language.  After hearing and understanding some of the stories and the contents, they became very interested in accepting Jesus Christ.

When Mr. P heard that his Christian friend was coming to visit the area he phoned him and asked him to visit him. “Because,” he said, “right now there are 4 Ta-Oi people who want to accept Jesus Christ, so please do come and lead them to Jesus Christ.” His friend was able to lead these Ta-Oi people to Jesus.

One of these Ta-Oi is Mr. SC. Mr. SC described how they have been in bondage to evil spirits.  His people have had a hard time throughout their lives, and they hate the evil spirits and want to get out from under their power but did not know how to do it.  He said, “Now we have heard that Jesus Christ has power to cast out the power of the evil spirits. Is that true?  If it is possible, please help us find somebody to explain about God so that we may understand, and lead us to accept Jesus Christ.” Then Mr. P’s friend immediately began to tell them about Jesus Christ and the Good News of the Gospel and the power of God.  Then Mr. SC decided to accept Jesus Christ right away.  There were also 9 families (54 people) who accepted Christ on that day.
