May 4th, 2005 - Update on Evicted Families
   >> Latest Update                     >> Lao Prayer Archive
Lao Quick Facts:
-Population of 3.3 Million in Laos  and over 17 Million in N.E. Thailand
-Animist with a veneer of syncretistic,  folk Buddhism
-Daniel McGillvary was the first  missionary to the Lao in the late 1800's
The 17 Khmu families were evicted from their village because of their faith in Jesus Christ. They were forced to leave their village on February 6, 2005. They are now building their bamboo hut houses, and they need grass roofs. They also need food and lands to cultivate. Please help them in prayer.

I cannot imagine or describe the situation of how the authorities have treated these innocent people. They took them and left them in 3 places, but each place in turn did not accept them.  First they took them from KP village and forced them to pay 3,000,000 Kip for the cost of the gas the 3 trucks that they used to transport them.  They also killed their pig and ate it, and said, “We can kill you even as this pig.”

Then they left them at the hall of the MK district on February 7, 2005, and then on the 8th at 8 AM they took them to V and left them there at the cemetery for 2 days and 2 nights.  The police there would not accept them because they say that “it was not their problem”.

Finally, on the 10th of Feb. 05 the police returned them back to the MK district, arriving there  at midnight.  Then they took them to a village named BM, a Laotian village.

Although these people just accepted Jesus about 2 years ago and their knowledge of the Word of God is very limited, their faith and commitment is so strong.  The authorities treated these people like animals, but they are the children of the almighty God.  He has purchased them by His precious blood on the cross. Satan knows that there will be thousands of Khmu people and even Ta-Oi people and other tribes as well who will accept Jesus Christ, and that is why Satan is not happy.

Please uphold the Khmu people in prayer, because they have been left out and neglected for so long. Right now is the time for harvesting, and the field is ripe. Through your partnership the Khmu ministry will be enlarged and many people will come to know the Lord of lords and the King of kings.  One day you will meet these Khmu brothers and sisters in heaven and they will say, “Thank you” to all who have loved them by prayer and financial support.
