Khmu Quick Facts:

-3% Christian population out of 525,000
-Settled agriculturalists who practice  swidden farming
-Found mainly in the Luang Prabang and  Xieng Khouang Provinces of Laos
Right now we do not know what to do with the overwhelming numbers of people coming to attend training sessions. We can't find any way to prevent them coming to the seminar. We select people from each province who should come but when the time comes there are more than what we expected. In January we invited about 80 leaders but 116 people came from Laos . In February we expected about 30-35 people to come but 51 people came.

In March it was reported by the leaders that there are 24 house churches who never come to attend our seminars.  This seminar focused on new leaders who had not attended our seminars before. We expected about 50-55 people  but 71 people came. All of them have been listening to the Khmu Christian radio program and to the cassette messages as well. It was a wonderful time and much excitement to meet people who never known one another before.  We rejoice to know how much the messages have been influencing their daily life, and that many of them have accepted Jesus Christ through listening to the program and the cassette messages.

A story of 3 men who became Christians through listening to the cassette messages:
The best of the cassettes deal with Khmu problems and how to change them -  particularly with spiritism and the bondage of sin.

These 2 cassettes are based on 3 factors of the Khmu problems such as: They were enslaved for the past 1000 years, they suffered from alcoholism, and were steeped in spiritism. But God has power to help us overcome all of these problems. For our part we must trust in Him with all our heart. Through these 2 cassette messages there are thousands of people who have come to know God.  There are more than 80 titles of Khmu Christian cassette messages which we have been pouring into Laos since 1997 but these 2 cassette messages are the best ones.

Now these cassette messages have reached 3 men named: KV, TS, BT and also 13 other people. After lstening to the cassette messages, they were amazed and became very interested in it all. Then they went to TP, a Christian leader, and they asked him to lead them to Jesus Christ. TP gladly led them to Jesus Christ.

Actually there were 4 families, but one of them denied Jesus after they were persecuted by the witchdoctors of their village. Right now 3 of these families will be moved to TP village because the head of the village and the witchdoctors have forced them to leave. Right now they have been building bamboo hut houses and farming at TP’s village, but their stuff is still at the old village. Pray for those being persecuted, especially for those who have been relocated from their village. They do not have rice and school supplies for their children. But they have finished their bamboo church building first before their houses.  Praise God!
