“Do you know who made these mountains?”  I asked Xiao Li.  We’d met Li as we were prayerwalking through the mountains of a Southeast Asia.   She was Miao (Hmong), from a little village I had never visited.  “They’ve just always been there,” she answered.  “Yes, but who do you think made them?”  She looked at me confused.

“I’m asking because we know the One who made those mountains and He wants you to know Him too.”   And I started telling her about God and how much He loves her.”  “Well, if there’s really a God like that and He loves me that much, then I want to love Him too,” she said.

She had seen us as we walked along, how we gave away our own food and clothes and water to people all along the road—gifts that would leave us hungry, thirsty, and cold on our long journey.   “Why do you love them?”  she asked.   “You don’t even know them.  You don’t even know me!  I’ve never seen a love like this before.”

She sat down on the side of the path, looked at us dumbfounded and said, “Why haven’t I ever heard of this before?   I guess my village is too small and insignificant.”   (Source:  December 6, 2002 IMB News, quoted in Brigada Missions Mobilizer Newsbrief.)
