The story of a Miao gang member named Kai-li is recounted in the recently published book, Voices of the Faithful: Inspiring Stories of Courage from Christians Serving Around the World.   (Integrity Press, 2005, p. 118)

Like millions of other Miao/Hmong Kai-li worshipped ancestors and spent his life fearing evil spirits.   Like them, he had never heard of Jesus.

Dreaming one night, he saw a cross lying by a river.  As he picked it up, light streamed from heaven, and Kai-li danced with joy in the light.    When his roommate came home the next day bearing a cross, Kai-li was sure his friend had found it by the river.   He had!

Some nights later Kai-li had another dream in which an angel knocked on his door to tell him what the cross stood for.   Shortly after the second dream, a tall foreigner knocked on his door.   Upon seeing the  stranger, Kai-li immediately asked to be told the message of the cross.    Hearing of Jesus from the stranger, Kai-li gave his life to Christ.   Subsequently he has led many of his former gang members to the Lord.
