How does one discern truth from
falsehood? In many societies,
access to a wide variety of media,
newspapers, and books allows one to
compare sources and evaluate the
truth of what one hears. Even
then, discerning truth can sometimes
be difficult.
In many areas where Hmong live, such
diverse resources are not readily
available. Isolation and illiteracy
can complicate separating fact and
fiction. In this environment,
cults have often easily deceived
believers and unbelievers alike with
messages of false messiahs or
promise of material gain.
Recently rumors have been spreading
that certain Christian workers will
arrive in a plane to take villagers
to America. Another false story
lures Christians by promising relief
from persecution or money and a
“church” building.
Pray:
- Let the message of Jesus—the
Way, Truth, and Life—sweep
across the mountains of SE Asia
until all Hmong have a chance to
hear of You.
- Free the Hmong from fear and
bondage to spirits; help them
know the Truth which sets men
free.
- Give believers discernment to
identify falsehood. Keep
their focus on following You
rather than on materialistic
goals.
- Break through the falsehood of
legalism, which is an offshoot
from years of trying to appease
spirits. Replace it with the
freeing truth about grace.
Enable Hmong Christians to serve
you with love, not fear.
- Protect the ministry of the
Christian workers who are being
linked to false stories.
