August 10th, 2005 - Big Flowery Miao

China is home to 300,000 A-Hmao—also known as the Big Flowery Miao.   At one time as many as 80% were Christian due to missionary activity in the early1900’s.   Early missionaries left behind a literate population with a translation of the New Testament.    Currently, translation of the Old Testament is needed along with a revision of the New Testament.

Though there are strong believers in the current church, the church as a whole has suffered decline over the years.   Strife and splits among believers have hindered God’s work.   As greater prosperity has come to the area, materialism has drawn many away from God.

Big Flowery Christians are strategically located to reach other dialect groups with the gospel.   A healthy revived church, unity of believers, a clear vision of mission, and well-trained evangelists are needed for this to happen.
