The 680,000 Northern Hua Miao have
traditionally been resistant to the
gospel. There are few known Christians
among them. And tools for getting the
gospel to them are quite limited. What
portions of Scripture exist are little
used; there is no New Testament or full
Bible translation. Christian radio
programming is unavailable to them.
Current focus is to develop materials
for the Black Hmong—a subset of the
Northern Hua represented by at least 3
distinct dialects. Key leaders will be
spending coming weeks on focused
language learning.
A Black Hmong writing system needs to be
devised and literacy training
developed. In addition, a goal for
this year is to prepare radio
programming in Black Hmong. To do all
this, a good team of dedicated workers
must be forged.
Pray:
- Heavenly Father, knowing Your great
love for the Northern Hua, we pray
that you will break down barriers to
their receptivity to the gospel.
Cause a great movement of Northern
Hua to Christ.
- Put together a team which is
passionate for You and for the
unreached Northern Hua; call forth
team members including a linguist
and those skilled to help with radio
programming,
- Advance the development of long-term
relationships in key areas where the
Northern Hua live. Lead Christians
to men of peace who can become key
evangelists to reach their own
people. Cause government leaders
to look with favor on Your servants
working with the Northern Hua.
- Give those who are learning the
Black Hmong language unusual
aptitude as they study in coming
weeks.
- Protect families of those who are
working among the Hmong from ways
Satan would try to hinder ministry;
particularly protect their children
spiritually, emotionally,
physically.
