One of the most pressing questions on my mind is where to live.
I am torn between many different places and the positives of
living in those places, but am constantly
bothered by the
lack of a presence among the Dong people themselves.
Of the thirty or so Dong-focused
workers (long and short-term from several different
organizations) in country right now, only two actually live
among the Dong people. It does take a bit of creativity, but
living out in some of these county seats is quite possible.
We want to start emphasizing a
more incarnational focus in our ministries; all of us feel we
are progressing at a fraction of the effectiveness possible than
if we lived our daily lives among the Dong people.
- Pray for all of us as we
strive to place a presence among the Dong people.
- Pray that we will be able to
find or make opportunities: business (the tung oil idea is
only one of many), schools interested in English teachers or
students of Chinese, community development projects, or
Chinese believers reaching out to their own minorities. The
Lord has many ways to place his servants (foreign or
Chinese) among the Dong. May it be so, to the glory of the
Lord.
