Earlier this spring, Mrs. Lu, a Bouyei lady, had seriously considered aborting her baby if it were a girl. We praised the Lord when she decided not to abort and accepted the possibility of having another girl. On July 31 she delivered a 4kg. BOY at home, in their squalid shanty, with the help of another Bouyei woman. Her son, now 11 days old, had been sick for 3-4 days. He had developed a cough and was too weak to nurse. His symptoms indicated dehydration and acute worsening of his condition. The day before they had gone to Children’s Hospital where the doctor advised that they admit the child. Not sure what to do and not having the money, they returned home with their infant. She phoned Christian friends who quickly met her at the clinic and rushed him to hospital where he was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit.
Mrs. Lu has been through this before. When her first daughter was sick, some Christians paid for medical care for her. Mrs. Lu was on medications for tuberculosis when she got pregnant with her second daughter. In her concern for that pregnancy she turned to the Lord and prayed. At 6 days of age, that daughter became quite ill and Christians hospitalized her for a week at Children’s Hospital.
About six months later Mrs. Lu’s mother in law marched into town to berate her and her husband for becoming Christians, declaring that no one in their village would help them if they ever returned to their village and did not follow the ancient tradition of ancestor worship. Mrs Lu and her husband caved under the pressure and turned away from the Lord. The same mother in law came to to the city last week to help them with this baby. Once again Mrs. Lu has a child in mortal danger and she has had to turn to the Lord’s people for help. Please pray that all in that family would come to realize that God is sovereign over life and death and that they would be brought to true repentance.
- Please pray for increasing light among the Bouyei. They are in the grip of the evil one and their lives reflect this darkness, even in their misery and abject poverty.
- Please pray for WF and her family. She is continuing to believe but now getting more persecution from family members including her father. But her 9 year old nephew clearly wanted to receive the Lord and prayed recently. The story is still unfolding for this family.
