August 20th, 2007 - Price Hike Again
Bamar Quick Facts:
-Largest and culturally dominate ethnic group of Myanmar
-31 Million People
-95% Buddhist
-Only 3,100 Christians out of the total population, less than 0.01%
Just today fuel prices went up again; petrol and diesel prices doubled, and natural gas (used in buses and vans) went up five times overnight. In the morning, many drivers didn’t have enough to fill their tanks, so crowds of people were left standing at the bus stops unable to get to work. Others who could afford it got taxis or special buses at grossly inflated prices. With most food and goods transported countrywide by road, rising fuel prices means higher costs of food and other essentials. This is the second time in 3 years that there has been such a steep hike.
Pray
-
That somehow this will be alleviated
-
That there will be policies which can help to support working people
