Six young women have arrived to be trained in sewing skills. They come from very poor villages to take part in a project that has just started up. They’ll be there for two years, at which point they will be able to go back to their villages with a new skill and enough money to start a small sewing business of their own. They will also be hearing the gospel during short daily devotions, and hopefully they will take the gospel back with them, too, to areas which are totally without a Christian witness.
Pray
- Pray for the whole project as it is starting up. Permissions need to be obtained.
- Electricity needs be stable for the sewing machines to work.
- Supplies in sewing material and spare parts for the sewing machines need to be available.
- Contacts need to be established with retailers who will sell the clothes sewn.
- The Christian messages need to be appropriate, so the women can understand them (they all come from a Buddhist background).
- The whole compound needs to be protected from thieves and other ill-intentioned people.
- Pray also for the next generation of women to be found and trained when the current batch has gone through the program.
