The Myanmar language has
many words which are completely untranslatable. One is
Ah-Nah which roughly translated can mean feeling embarrassed
at causing another persons some inconvenience, especially
when that person is of a higher status than you, such as a
parent, teacher or elder.
One friend described that
she often feels Ah-Nah toward God, because she often prays
to Him with so many small requests, and surely God must get
impatient with me because I keep asking Him for these daily
things.
Because of Ah-Nah, a person
may be reluctant to tell the truth, in case hearing it may
cause you to feel uncomfortable.
Praise:
- For the rich cultural
blessing that Ah-Nah can bring to relationships for a
God who understands all our needs.
Pray:
- For Christians to
develop a deep sense of relationship with God, 'who
knows our frame’.
