Despite being in many ways
a fertile place, food security remains a big issue for many
families and communities in Myanmar. This can be due to crop
failure, crop destruction because of displacement, falling
prices for exports and lack of capital to grow more than
just enough. Sometimes the lack of access to beneficial
agricultural techniques or resources can mean that the
quality of food produced is also poor, and up to a third of
children in Myanmar are malnourished according to a recent
report.
