  • Praise the Lord that “a people for His Name” will be established from among every people. (Rev. 7:9-10)
  • Demolish spiritual strongholds and human philosophies or arguments against God which produce barriers of resistance to the gospel. (II Cor. 10:4-5)
  • Pray that willing, skillful workers would be sent to reach this people group. (Matt. 9:38)
  • Believe God to enlighten the minds of the people about their worship of other gods. (Psalm 115:4-8)
  • Plead for the opening of eyes to the revelation of the Creator God and His Son, Jesus Christ. (Eph. 1:17-18)
  • Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
    – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

  • Ask God to give understanding and discernment to those who communicate truth that it may be clearly understood. (I Peter 1:18 – 19)
  • Intercede for people to come to faith in Christ, repenting from their sin and from their own good works. (Eph. 2:8-9)
  • Ask that new believers will share the gospel as bold witnesses. (Acts 4:29-31)

Praying for Buddhists

by Dr. Alex Smith

  • Praise the Lord of the Church that “a people for His Name” will be established among every unreached Buddhist nation, tribe, people and tongue. (Revelation 7:9-10)
  • Bind the forces of darkness, resisting all demonic rulers and spiritual powers that, in heavenly places, influence Buddhist countries. (Ephesians 6:12-13, Daniel 10:13, 20)
  • Demolish spiritual strongholds and human philosophies or arguments against God that produce barriers of resistance through social solidarity among Buddhists. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)
  • Claim Christ’s complete victory over all demonic hordes that blind and enslave almost one billion Buddhists, including Han Chinese. (Colossians 2:15)
  • Pray out “God-sent, willing, skillful workers” for each of the 3,000 unreached Buddhist people groups. (Matthew 9:38)
  • Intercede for lasting fruit from the sacrifice of existing missionaries of the various agencies working among Buddhists. (John 12:24)
  • Plead for the opening of Buddhists’ eyes to the revelation of the true and living God and His Christ, the unique Savior. (Ephesians 1:17-23)
  • Whether we like it or not, asking is the rule of the Kingdom. If you may have everything by asking in His Name, and nothing without asking, I beg you to see how absolutely vital prayer is.
    – Charles H. Spurgeon

  • Believe God to enlighten the minds of Buddhists about the folly of idolatry. (Psalms 115:4-8)
  • Ask God to help Christians discern the biblical differences related to Buddhist terms and concepts so they can intelligently communicate the gospel. (Proverbs 2:2-3, 2 Timothy 2:7)
  • Pray for Buddhist hearts to understand the gospel, especially the doctrines of Christ’s substitution and redemption. (Galatians 3:13, 1 Peter 1:18-19; 2:24)
  • Intercede for Buddhists to come to faith in Christ, repenting from their total dependence on their own good works. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • Pray for protection and nurture of new believers from Buddhist cultures, claiming God’s “wall of fire around them.” (Zechariah 2:5, Psalm 91)
  • Ask that believers will share the gospel as bold witnesses to their Buddhist families and neighbors. (Acts 4:29-31)
  • Uphold all Christians in Buddhist lands before the Throne of God that they will exhibit holy, disciplined lifestyles as examples and models of Christ. (2 Cor. 3:2-3, 1 Peter 1:15-16; 2:21)
  • Plead with God to plant churches and begin church-planting movements among each Buddhist people group. (Matthew 16:18, 1 Peter 2:9-10)
  • Intercede for the raising up of national church leaders to train and care for God’s flocks and to extend the Church in each Buddhist group. (Acts 20:27-32, 1 Peter 5:1-4)
