Follow up on PP sent out 2009 – see below

Mrs. Star of Blessing died a few months after the 2009 article was sent out. God alone knows the true condition of her soul, but we are thankful for the words of Jesus, “Whosoever comes to me I will not cast out.”

The young man who encouraged Mrs. Star of Blessing to receive Christ continues to follow the Lord but is now living in a different town.

Of the Lao Phuan people who have come to the Lord in the last few years, almost all of them became aware of Christ as a result of healing or deliverance from demonic influence. We only know of 3 people out of about 60 who have later turned back when they have encountered more problems.

+ Praise God for the consistent witness of Phuan Christians to their family, friends and neighbors.
+ Pray for the ongoing work of God’s Spirit in the life of Mrs. Star of Blessing’s daughter who accompanied her the day Mrs. Star of Blessing prayed to receive Christ.
+ We are pleased and amazed by all the wonderful works of healing and deliverance among the Phuan. Pray that they will love the Giver more than the gifts!

Desperate for Healing

Mrs. Star of Blessing is a single Mom with a family to support. She went to the capital city for abdominal surgery and became very ill with an infection. She then went to Hanoi for help but returned home unhealed. Her serious health problems prompted her to ask a Christian Phuan friend for help.

Star of Blessing’s friend invited several others to come and pray. After introductions, the older man present explained the gospel to the sick woman then said he would pray for her healing. A young man, who has been a believer for about one year, spoke up and said the sick woman should pray for salvation before asking for healing. The young man also encouraged Mrs. Star of Blessing to be baptized and to get rid of the amulets and idols in her house. (It is unusual in this culture for a younger man to speak out in a situation where elders are present and to give advice to an older woman.)

Star of Blessing repeated a prayer to confess her sins and receive the gift of salvation. She remains very sick and weak and confined to her home. Her daughter, a young adult, is looking after her. Mrs. Star of Blessing is desperate for physical healing and seems to be grasping at anything or anyone who offers hope – making merit, the Buddhist monks, the spirit mediums, traditional and modern medicines and the Christian faith.

+ Praise God for the spiritual growth in this young believing man. Pray God would continue to raise up men and women with faith and obedience, joyfully reaching out to the people around them.
+ Pray for God’s mercy and glory to be experienced in Mrs. Star of Blessing’s body and life. Pray for her salvation and the salvation of her family.
+ Pray other Phuan who have received healing – some of whom have accepted Christ and some have not. Pray for perseverance and growing faith in Jesus to be able to overcome new challenges and problems that face. Pray for some who have turned away from their faith when faced with a new problem.
